Melissa Meeboer EWC Business Faculty
Education: BA - Business Education, University of Wyoming
MBA - University of Wyoming
Biography:
Melissa Meeboer began her teaching career in Torrington, Wyoming, at Torrington High School. After teaching one year at the high school level, she determined that she would like to continue her studies and enter the private business sector. Having completed her Masters of Business Administration degree, she passed the Certified Public Accountants exam and entered the public accounting profession in Casper, WY. That experience led to the opportunity to teach accounting at the University of Wyoming in Laramie for over 10 years prior to moving to Torrington and joining the EWC teaching staff.
Melissa loves to teach accounting and would like her students to understand that the classroom is the key to understanding the business world with its increasing complexity. Events such as the September 11 terrorist attack and the Katrina hurricane have vast implications for businesses which require special reporting practices. Classroom concepts lead to understanding the ethical and financial implications of such events.
Melissa also enjoys Marketing and Business Math courses and has experience teaching computer courses to community members. She is one of EWC's pioneer teachers in the realm of distance and online learning opportunities and feels that student learning can be achieved despite the mode of interaction.
Melissa resides in Torrington with her husband, Dr. Michael Meeboer, DVM, and her son, Danny. Her daughter, Kelly, is attending the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
