What is Weatherization?weatherization image

Weatherization is the answer to over 127 million homes in the United States that are not sustainable. Energy costs are rising, and buildings use over 30% of all energy consumed in the US.

Why should I consider a career in Weatherization?

You can make a difference as an installer, leadman or Certified Building Analyst/Auditor with a comprehensive background in construction and renewable energy.

What you will get from the program:

  • Hands-on education with the latest scientific building test equipment
  • Learn how to treat the home as a system enroute to energy efficiency
  • High-tech mobile lab
* Funds available to cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies!!!

Weatherization includes many aspects of the existing home market that needs energy efficient upgrades to address comfort, energy efficiency, and safe indoor air quality. The student can build a career starting with a solid understanding of the house as a system and build on science basics, beginning with pressure and thermal boundaries, combustion safety, worker safety, material, tools and equipment, typical weatherization strategies, mobile home and multi-family basics, and blower door operation. Courses can lead to a career in the vast home weatherization “green” renewals and energy direction for the 21st century.
