Education Department: Program Description

The Education Department at Eastern Wyoming College provides field-based preparation for students interested in becoming teachers at grade levels from preschool through high school. The program offers freshman and sophomore courses combining general education classes with professional education course work.

EWC offers an Associate of Arts degree in Elementary Education for those interested in teaching grades kindergarten through sixth and a Secondary Education degree for students who plan to teach specific subject areas in junior high or high school. EWC graduates generally transfer to four-year colleges to complete teacher preparation and earn certification to teach.

Muriel de Ganahl, the education instructor at EWC, is a former elementary teacher, principal and central office administrator. She has a Master’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado and is currently pursuing her doctorate at Texas Tech.

Scholarships are available for academically qualified students. We look forward to hearing from you if further information about EWC’s Education program is needed.
