Cosmetology Department Program Description
Students enrolled in the Cosmetology program at Eastern Wyoming College have the opportunity to receive instruction in the areas of hair, skin, nails, and salon ethics. Wyoming State Laws require 2000 clock hours in an educational setting. Enrollment into the program is accepted in the fall semester. The program is designed to be completed in approximately four semesters. A summer session is offered and available for students wishing to accumulate additional clock hours. Students must also successfully complete the following courses to earn the A.A.S. degree:
- HMDV 1000 College Studies
- CMAP 1610 Windows I
- TECH 1005 Applied Technical Writing or
- ENGL 1010 or English I:Composition
- BADM 1005 Business Math or MATH 1515 Applied Technical Math
- POLS 1050 Basics in United States and Wyoming Government or
- POLS 1000 American & Wyoming Government or
- HIST 1211 U.S. to 1865 or
- HIST 1221 U.S. from 1865.
The Cosmetology instructors at Eastern Wyoming College stay current with new techniques through contiuning education and are dedicated to building a strong foundation of education in cosmetology. They are very proud to say that the pass rate on the National Cosmetology Examination is 100%

The first semester books and cosmetology supplies are approximately $850 and include a cosmetology kit, nail tech kit, Milady's Standard Text Book, and various other supplies including mannequins. Supplies for the second semester are approximately $180. All supplies are available at the EWC Bookstore, or through the Cosmetology Department and prices are subject to change. Students must also take the COMPASS Placement Exam, which has a cost of $15.00.
