Computer Science Department Program Description

The Eastern Wyoming College Computer Science Department offers students the opportunity to study Computer Science and Networking Technologies in a small and highly personalized academic environment. EWC offers three programs of study: Management Information Systems, Information Support Specialist and Network Technician. Cisco Networking Principles are taught in all three programs, and hands-on training is provided as well as networking theory and principals.

Computer Information Systems: This program combines computer networking, programming, and maintenance with software management to prepare students for employment in the fast growing field of computer technology. It is designed to complement the Network Technician certificate program because graduates from the program can continue their studies to receive an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Systems.

Information Support Specialist: This program is designed to train students for entry-level jobs in a high-demand, high-paying profession as an information support technician. This
program emphasizes basic computer application knowledge, working knowledge of network and pc hardware, IEEE Ethernet Cabling Standards and Procedures, as outlined in Cisco CCNA I curriculum, and develops skills in local area network design and administration. The experience culminates with an occupational internship where the student gains hands-on experience working with computer networks. This program also prepares students to take CompTIA A+ technician and network plus exams.

Each year there are numerous activities with other academy schools in the area and scholarships are available to students participating in our programs. For additional information please contact: The Learning Office at 307.532.8260, carmie.howe@ewc.wy.edu.
