Adult Student of the Month
The Adult Basic Education program at Eastern Wyoming College has established a Student Of The Month award recognition program in an effort to recognize our student's individual achievements. We understand that the students in our programs work just as hard to become successful as students enrolled in other academic institutions, but are seldom given recognition for the successes they achieve. Our student of the month award targets individual students from various sites throughout the EWC service area. All ABE students throughout the EWC service area are eligible for this award, but nominations must come from an EWC ABE instructor.
April 2013 Student of the Month
The ABE student of the month award is Yaozhi (Amy) Hessler.
Amy first enrolled in our ABE program several years ago and has worked very hard to improve her English language communicative abilities. She is very self-disciplined and motivated to learn English as she uses it in her daily life and when she travels both locally and internationally.
Since enrolling in our program, Amy has made great strides in her studies; so much so that next year she will be transitioned to ABE. In addition to studying English, Amy also enrolled in our EL Civics program in order to prepare for her citizenship exams. Because of her hard work, Amy was sworn in as an official citizen of the United States on March 11, 2013. We are very proud of Amy and congratulate her on her new citizenship!
