TORRINGTON, WY -

Eastern Wyoming College has announced a partnership with the WY Quality Counts program to offer professional development opportunities.

"How to Start a Quality Child Care Business" is designed to provide the basic business management skills for developing and starting a business. This also serves as a refresher course in running a successful child card business. Topics to be covered include self assessment for going into business, managing a business, market research, developing a business plan, human resource issues, and review of local, state, and federal resources.

The Business Basics courses will be held on October 16th and 30th from 8 am - 4 pm and lunch will be provided. The class is offered in Torrington and at WEN video sites throughout the region.

A series of trainings designed to strengthen a child care provider's leadership and management skills will also be held. One session will explore the roles of supervisors and staff to build effective teams. The second session will include a personality self-portrait assessment to better understand how we think, work, and act. The third session will focus on effective communication with staff and families. The final session will introduce tools for effective conflict resolution in a child care setting.

The Leadership and Management courses will be held on October 23rd, November 6th, 13th, and 20th. All classes are from 9 am to 1 pm and will include lunch. This class will also be held in Torrington and at WEN video sites throughout the region.
