EWC Offers Centennial History Series

During Torrington's Centennial Celebration, the Community Education Office will offer a series of history classes. The Community Education Torrington Centennial History Series taught and moderated by Don Hodgson, kicked off on March 27 and continues through May 15. The series meets Thursdays throughout the semester and covers topics such as Torrington's beginning, a town walk, the County Courthouse, local schools and hospitals, a cemetery tour, and town politics. The series is $5 per class or $15 for the entire series. Classes are designed to increase participants understanding of personal history, historical research, and the local history.
Upcoming classes in the series are: April 3 - Creating a Community: Torrington's Beginning; April 10 - Building a Town: Town Walk - History and Architecture; April 17 - The County Seat: Courthouse Tour and Talk; April 24 - Books and Beds: Schools, Hospitals, and Doctors; May 1 - People and Stories from the Past: Walking Tour of the Cemetery; May 8 - Living in the Past: Recollections of Past Residents; May 15 - Town Politics: Mayors and City Officials.
