Scavenger Hunt Food Drive is Another Big Success
November 15, 2007
TORRINGTON, WY -
SkillsUSA wants to thank all who participated in the Scavenger Hunt held November 14th. There was a great response from all of the EWC's Clubs: the SkillsUSA Welding club, Cosmetology Club, SkillsUSA Technology/Construction Club, PTK, and the Wildlife and Range Management Club. They all gathered at the EWC Student Center and were given instructions and maps of their assigned areas; then they went out into the community, door to door, seeking can foods and dry goods donations, for holiday boxes and the food bank. Although everyone was a winner just for participating; two teams also received gift certificates from Pizza Hut. The Cosmetology Club won for being the closest to getting all the items on their list, and the SlillsUSA Welding Club won for collecting the most items overall. All together, 376 food items were collected for the food bank and ten Thanksgiving boxes for EWC student families to add to their Thanksgiving holiday. All Clubs received a certificate of participation, plus cookies and hot chocolate when they returned. Thanks to the SkillsUSA Club for hosting this event. The club members are: Rosa Acevedo, Kevin Bobiulz, Aaron McCloud, Lizzi Sitzman, Sharlet Starck, Cody Wesch, Ashley Wilson, John Gibson (advisor), Darci Duran (advisor), and Pete Cawiezel (professional member).
