Eastern Wyoming College Foundation Announces Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient

TORRINGTON, WY - The Eastern Wyoming College Foundation has announced that the 2006 Distinguished Alumni Award recipient is Dustin Stephenson from Mullen, Nebraska.
Stephenson earned an Associate of Arts degree from EWC in 1987. He then transferred to Chadron State College, and in 1990 earned a Bachelor of Science in Art. Dustin has taught art in Mullen, Nebraska for 14 years and has also coached girls and boys basketball at Mullen High School. Stephenson's students are known to be very tough competition in the many art contests they compete in throughout the school year.
Stephen is also a professional artist and sculptor. Pottery is his main emphasis but he also does two-dimensional drawings and paintings. Stephenson travels to about 20 shows a year competing and selling his art.
"Dusty" was nominated by EWC instructor emeritus, Sue Milner, who was his art instructor during his tenure at Eastern Wyoming College, had the following to say about Dusty. "It was a surprise to get him at EWC. I was delighted to have him as a student and am proud to call him a friend. I would like everyone to know that I learned a lot from him."
While at EWC, Stephenson was selected to the Dean's Academic Honor Roll and Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges. While at Chadron State College, Dustin received the Fine Art's league Scholarship, Scholar's Award, Art Exhibit Awards including "Best of Show" in the Senior Art Exhibit.
When asked about being named the 2006 Eastern Wyoming College Distinguished Alumni, Stephenson had the following response, "I am quite humbled that I received this honor. I don't have any big degrees, I am just a teacher. It's just quite an honor and I feel as if I have met a goal that I didn't even set."
