Spend an Evening at the Purple Onion, a Literary Cafe/Coffee House

February 20, 2006

TORRINGTON, WY - "Spend an Evening at the Purple Onion, a Literary Cafe/Coffee House" is the next event in EWC Library's series of special programs. This program is different from the previous events in that this will be an open mic night in the style of the literary cafes and coffee houses of the 50s, 60s, and 70s where anyone can be a performer or participant. If you are a writer, a poet, short story writer, essayist, musician (guitarist, singer, piano player, accordionist, etc.), comedienne in search of an audience, or if you have a favorite poem or story that you would like to share, this is your night to perform. You do not need to be a EWC student to participate. Each performer will be given their five to seven minutes of fame in the spotlight to perform and the EWC Librarians welcome your participation. The more the merrier is the motto for this event. Dress of the evening maybe anything from black beret French chic to early 60s - ala Laura Petrie, to hippie, to Bohemian, to 70s razzle dazzle. Express your retro personality.

The Purple Onion will be celebrating its grand opening event on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in the EWC Library. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, espressos, lattes, steamers, and pastries will be served. All are welcome to this free event so please join us for an evening of fun and conversation. For more information please call Becky Lorenz at the EWC Library at 307.532.8210.
