Eastern Wyoming College Art Display featuring the works by Mike Youngman

January 16, 2006

TORRINGTON, WY - The Eastern Wyoming College Art Department is pleased to present the visual art of Mike Youngman. Youngman works in a variety of mediums and subjects, focusing especially on the human form and explorations of the vicissitudes of life, on this planet, celebration, mourning, critique, and laughter. His artistic voice shouts and whispers from an authentically humanistic place, coming forth through images at turns addressing spiritual, social, environmental, and psychological concerns. The craftsmanship and draftsmanship in his work is superb, but always is driven from the heart, not simply expositing on his considerable dexterity. More than everything else, perhaps, his work is a constant search for understanding, enlightenment, recording the victories and tragedies that we all experience on that long road.

Youngman grew up in California, and received his BA from Brigham Young University, and his MFA from Utah State University. He has completed numerous commissions, including murals for Morrison-Knudson Corporation, Blue Cross, and the College of Southern Idaho, and is included in a number of private collections.

Please stop by the EWC Art Department from January 26th through February 23rd to view Youngman's fine work. For more information please contact Karl Brake, EWC Art Instructor at 307.532.8291.
