EWC receives accreditation to offer four distance education degrees
November 21, 2005
TORRINGTON, WY - Eastern Wyoming College has been notified by The Higher Learning Commission that it has extended EWC's accreditation to include distance delivery of four associate degree programs.
EWC President Dr. Jack Bottenfield was extremely pleased about the accreditation. "I am very pleased and gratified that the Commission has approved expansion of the degree offerings of Eastern Wyoming College which will allow us to serve more people by permitting us to offer these degrees by means of distance education!"
"As a comprehensive public community college, EWC is interested in providing high quality educational opportunities to as many people as possible. This recent action by the Commission will certainly enhance our ability to do so.
The four distance delivery degrees include: Interdisciplinary Studies, Associate of Arts; Interdisciplinary Studies, Associate of Science; Business Administration, Associate of Applied Science; and Criminal Justice, Associate of Arts.
The delivery method for most classes in these degrees will be the Internet. Some classes will be offered by compressed video or a combination of both.
The development of these degrees will open the door for students who are hoping to complete a degree, but are having a difficult time doing so. Many students juggle families, jobs, and classes as they try to complete their education. This allows for some flexibility in a class schedule when for example, classes may be worked on in the comfort of home after the kids are in bed.
Students who find themselves site bound by various obligations will also be able to complete an EWC degree.
Students interested in more information about distance delivery degrees at EWC can contact EWC's associate dean of instruction, Dr. Dee Ludwig at (307) 532.8221 or by email at dludwig@ewc.wy.edu.
