Eastern Wyoming College Increases Endowment by a Quarter of a Million Dollars
August 20, 2005
TORRINGTON, WY - Eastern Wyoming College has benefited significantly during the first year of the Wyoming Community College Endowment Challenge program. A tremendous opportunity was given by the 2004 Wyoming State Legislature which provides a match for every dollar donated privately for an endowment at Eastern Wyoming College. Through generous private donations and the match from the State of Wyoming, EWC Foundation endowments funds have increased by over $250,000.
Many donors established endowments in their names or in memory of others, and the results are 9 new endowments which include the Ken & Elinor Dill Scholarship, Tucker Memorial Scholarship, R.W. Weickum Memorial Scholarship, Gail Branham Memorial Scholarship, Alma Anker Scholership, David Eddington & Gertrude Poage Eddington Scholarship, Arlene Shendledecker Memorial Scholarship, Wyoming National Guard Scholarship, and the Carl Sawyer Memorial Award. In addition to the new scholarships, several other donations were made to existing EWC scholarship endowments and were also doubled.
Wyoming Community College Endowment Challenge donations can be outright contributions or they can be pledged through 2009. Gifts can be designated for scholarships, arts and cultural enrichment, instructional program development or to an unconditional fund.
