July 13, 2005
TORRINGTON, WY - Chance Pollo, 2005 graduate of Eastern Wyoming College, participated in the National SkillsUSA Competition along with three other students from EWC in Kansas City, MO on June 20-24. Pollo placed third in the nation in the Welding competition.
The other students that participated in the competition from EWC are Morgan Hetland of Lovell, WY, and Tammie Lieurance and Jamie Herdt both from Torrington.
SkillsUSA is a professional organization for students in technical, skilled and service occupations. The students compete in Leadership and Technical events.
Russell Pontarolo, EWC Welding Instructor commented, "It's a respectable characteristic of Chance to be a prior student and still continue to pursue his excellence in welding!"
Pollo also recently competed in the U.S. Open Weld Trails held in Dallas, TX in April.
He has been invited back to compete again in 2007.
