EWC Hosts Math Contest

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College will be hosting a math contest on Tuesday, April 19th, at 1:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Students from various middle school & high schools around the area including Chugwater, Guernsey, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Torrington, and Wheatland will be competing. Home schooled students are also encouraged to compete.

The 7th and 8th grade students will test at their level while the high school students take a different test. There are five 20-minute tests for each group. Freshmen and sophomores are class B, juniors and seniors are class A. Medals and t-shirts will be given as prizes for the top three winners in each class 7/8, class A and Class B.

Eastern Wyoming College will be offering a $250.00 scholarship to the top winner in class A. There will be team trophies for Class A and Class B, along with individual prizes.

This is a statewide contest called the Herb Wolsborn Math Contest. Local scores are sent to the state and there is a UW scholarship for the state winner. More information may be found on the website of the Wyoming Council of Teachers of Mathematics. The web address is www.wctm.org/mathcontest.htm.
