February 9, 2005

EWC Displayed United States Flag That Flew in Afghanistan(Torrington, WY) Boy Scout Troop 26 Color Guard represented by Lucas Foster, Mitch Hayden, and Tyler Hayden, proudly presented the United States flag that flew over Afghanistan at an Eastern Wyoming College basketball game Monday evening. The flag that was proudly displayed flew on a combat mission in the face of the enemy on an AH-64 helicopter in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom V.

It flew with 1Lt. R. Dante Fontenot, husband of the former Lynda Bullock who graduated from Eastern Wyoming College in 1987. Lt Dante Fontenot is a maintenance pilot with the Utah National Guard and has been stationed since April of 2004 in Bagram, Afghanistan with the 1-211 Aviation, the Task Force Pirates. His mission is to fly the Afghanistan/Pakistan border in search of terrorists. He has also performed humanitarian aid to the Afghani people.

This flag was given to Lowell Bullock as a gift this past Christmas and he generously loaned it for use at the EWC vs. WNCC game on Monday night.

This flags flight served as a tribute to the men and women who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. This flag will forever bear witness to the resolve of the United States military, fighting against terrorists who threaten the freedom of the United States of America and the World.
