EWC Reports Small Fire
December 14, 2004
(Torrington, WY) On Sunday, December 12, the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department and Torrington Police Department responded to a report of a small bathroom fire at the Eastern Wyoming College Student Apartment Building. The fire was extinguished shortly thereafter and there were no injuries.
President Jack Bottenfield had all residents of the apartment building re-located for the night as a safety precaution. A deputy from the State Fire Marshal office will visit the EWC campus today, December 13. The EWC Administration will keep the Student Apartment Building closed until the State Fire Marshal's office concludes their investigation, at which time further plans can be made.
A cost estimate on damages caused by the small fire is unavailable at this time.
The building's total capacity is 44 students and an apartment manager.
President Bottenfield was pleased with the quick response to the fire. "I would like to commend the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department, the Torrington Police Department, EWC Board members, EWC personnel, and student residents for responding so quickly and providing such great assistance and support."
