(Torrington, WY) A grant from Union Pacific Railroad Foundation has allowed Eastern Wyoming College to purchase ten laptop computers and portable cart to turn any classroom throughout the Tebbet building into a computer lab. Because the dedicated computer classrooms are utilized by computer related courses there is little opportunity for other academic programs to use them. The portable computer lab will allow traditional programs to expand beyond textbook and lecture-based curriculum.

Dee Ludwig, Associate Dean of Instruction, envisions the laptops being used to compose writing assignments during class, participate in peer-editing sessions and revisions during the same class period, research various scientific topics and find internet sites that provide the most recent scientific breakthroughs. "We appreciate the support from the Union Pacific Railroad Foundation. This grant will help us accomplish one of our technology goals and will benefit many students."
