August 26, 2003
(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College has cited the Employee and Board Division for its outstanding performance in raising $182,377 in gifts and pledges for the College's major gift campaign dubbed, "A Great Decision-to share in our region's future." Employee Division Chair Leland Vetter, EWC welding instructor, and Board Division Chair Kate Kelly, in cooperation with their vice chairs Lorna Stickel, Sharon Jones, Dee Ludwig Larry Dodge, Jim Davis, Joe Guth, Carl Rupp and Ed Jolovich provided the leadership in completing the solicitations for the division with 85% participation. The overwhelming success of this division provided the critical start for EWC toward achieving its campaign goal to build a new dormitory, remodel the current dormitory, expand the veterinary technology and welding programs. "We were told that we might achieve 50 to 60% percent participation," said EWC President Jack Bottenfield. "I am extremely proud of the EWC family for far exceeding expectations, but more importantly for clearly demonstrating their support for the College and this campaign." Vetter, in commenting on his experience as Chairman of the employee division, said, "Our great success doesn't come as a surprise to me. These are the kind of people who work here. They really care about this college."
