(Torrington, WY) The Eastern Wyoming College Foundation recently hosted the 1st Annual Foundation Golf Tournament at the Devil's Tower Golf Course in Hulett, Wyoming. The tournament began with a shot gun start and featured hole prizes and gift certificates. Nine teams played in the scramble organized by Joe Guth, EWC Foundation member who serves as chairman of the golf tournament committee. The winners of the four person scramble were Bruce Brown, Theresa Brown, Larry Backen and Della Bears, all from Hulett. Second place also went to a team from Hulett made up of George White, Will White, Ken Klinger and Claude Rauch. Third place finishers were Torrington's Joe Guth, Gaylene Guth, Gary Schwindt and Mike Guth.
"We had a great time hosting EWC Foundation's first tournament at the Devil's Tower Golf Course, and we were pleased that the majority of the teams were from Crook and Weston counties. Communities from northeastern Wyoming are very supportive of EWC, and we enjoyed getting acquainted with the many people involved in the tournament," said Lynnea Bartlett, EWC's Director of Development.
College staff and representatives from the College Foundation Board and Trustees began hosting barbecues at EWC's outreach sites last year in an effort to get to know people in those counties which include Crook, Weston, Niobrara, Converse, and Platte. The Foundation golf tournament at Hulett was intended to be a friend raiser as well. In September, the college will resume its barbecues in the outreach communities.
