EWC Gives Back to Community with Project Graduation

April 28, 2003

(Torrington, WY) The Alpha Omicron Lambda Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Eastern Wyoming College is participating in Project Graduation: Feed a Body, Feed a Mind, an initiative designed to help alleviate hunger and illiteracy in our community. Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) was established in 1918 with the purpose of recognizing and encouraging scholarship among associate degree students. PTK provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate to exchange ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence. In the interest of service to the community, graduating students and their guests are asked to bring non-perishable food items and/or new children's books to the college graduation ceremony to be held on Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

There will be a designated area for donations to be dropped off during the steak fry in the Student Center before commencement, and in the Fine Arts Auditorium before the ceremony. Chapter sponsor Nick Roster stated that the food donations collected will be given to the local Care and Share Program. Phi Theta Kappa is still working on where the book donations will go.
