EWC Cosmetology Students and Banner Health Recently Held Spa Day

April 25, 2003

(Torrington, WY) Eastern Wyoming College Cosmetology students had a chance to test their skills while community members got a little pampering at Spa Day on April 5, 2003.

Spa Day was created by Banner Health Message Clinic therapist, Diane Eakins, who wanted to showcase the services available to the community year-round through the clinic and through the Eastern Wyoming College Cosmetology program.  Every year, twelve community members can participate for a fee to be treated to hour-long pedicures, manicures, facials, and massages. "Depending on the size of area, people would have to pay $250-$450 for the same services," Eakins said. The guests also received an application of make-up.

Spa DayEWC students including Carla Palomo, Ann Meier, Shelley Gibson, Erin Swingholm (pictured), Karli Marlatt, Amy Palomo, Kimber Sheck and Katie McAmis were in charge of pedicures, manicures, facials and make-up. Diane and Kelly Eakins, of Banner Health, were on hand for massages. Spa Day began at 7:45 a.m. and the last guest finished at 7:30 p.m. Donna Charron, Cosmetology instructor, said about the day, "It's a great day for students to get a feel for real-world working experience."
