EWC Instructor Receives Construction Teacher Grant
August 20, 2002
(Torrington, Wyoming August 20, 2002) Eastern Wyoming College Instructor, Leland Vetter, applied for and has received a $2,000.00 grant from the Construction Careers Foundation in Casper, Wyoming. The Wyoming Construction Careers Foundation, founded in 1997 by the Wyoming Contractors Association provides funds for promoting careers in construction and construction technology education. Employment in the construction industry grew by 31.9% between 1990 and 1996. Anticipating severe labor shortages, the construction industry is eager to partner with high schools and colleges in Wyoming. With the grant money, Vetter has purchased duplicate precision measuring tools to be used by welding and machine tooling students alike. The students will learn the formulas and mathematics involved in using the precision measuring tools. "These tools will benefit more than seventy-five welding, machine tooling and AG students per year," Vetter replied. Having duplicate tools will allow for more hands-on training with a variety of different precision tools. For more information about machine tool technology and welding, contact Vetter at 532-8275.
