It is impossible to overemphasize the value of
mathematics as a tool in other fields, notably
engineering, physical science, and statistics.
Recent developments in the biological,
behavioral, and social sciences have drawn
attention to the power of mathematics in
these fields also. Along with the teaching of
mathematics and research into pure mathematics,
students majoring in mathematics also have
many other options open to them. The courses
listed below provide a strong background for
specialization during the student's junior and
senior years.
Students must complete all program
requirements, including approved electives, with
a grade of "C" or better.
