Campus Life
CAMPUS ACTIVITIES BOARD:
This is a formal
group of interested students who assist the
Coordinator of Intramurals and Student Activities
in the selection, promotion, and follow-through
of activities for all Torrington-based students.
Interested students are invited to join this board
by contacting the Coordinator.
CAMPUS MINISTRY:
The Campus Ministry
Program provides and supports a ministry service
to the Eastern Wyoming College community.
This community includes the students, faculty,
staff, and community volunteers. The program
attempts to provide a ministry that is flexible in
the attitude and approach it takes, and provides an
atmosphere of unconditional acceptance. Campus
Ministry seeks to be a ministry of pastoral care,
education, social concern, and ecumenical
relations, and is led by community leaders and
local churches.
COSMETOLOGY CLUB:
The Cosmetology Club
is designed for the student who is outgoing and
creative. The club encourages leadership, unity,
and advanced education. All Cosmetology Club
members must maintain a GPA of 2.0. As a
club, students attend regional hair shows and
educational field trips. The club is active in
community services such as sponsoring food
drives for the local food pantry.
CREATIVE WRITING CLUB:
The EWC Creative
Writing Club is an organization for students who
love to write/draw for a profession or hobby.
Student's work will be included in a publication
called Bleeding Ink. This club gathers in meetings
to discuss events and topics as well as enjoy each
other's company.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLUB:
Beta Upsilon Delta
is a member of the American Criminal Justice
Association. The club's main goal is to create a
positive interaction with local, state, and federal
agencies. Membership is composed of students in
all areas of the criminal justice field, instructors,
and local police officers. The club participates
in competitions on a regional and national level.
In the past decade this club has won numerous
regional and national team and individual honors.
GAME CLUB:
The EWC Game Club's purpose is
to provide students with an outlet for relaxation
and fellowship through all types and forms of
games. Membership is open to all EWC students.
GEAR-UP CLUB:
The GEAR-UP Club is open to
students who were previously involved in their
former high school's GEAR-UP program. This
club's goals include enriching the academic and
social experience of college students, mentoring
incoming GEAR-UP students, and conducting
community service projects.
HOUSING COUNCIL:
The Housing Council is an
informal group of on-campus residents who are
interested in improving the quality of on-campus
living. The basic functions of the Housing Council
are to:
1. Advise and implement, with approval of the
Director of Residence Life, Vice President
for Student Services, and the College
Board of Trustees, policies, regulations, and
procedures for the improvement of residence
hall living.
2. Coordinate housing activities.
3. Maintain close two-way communication
between the student residents and the
College.
4. Provide opportunities for the residents to
participate in residence hall government.
5. Evaluate environmental factors which
influence the general welfare of residents.
INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS:
Eastern
Wyoming College belongs to the Wyoming
Community College Athletic Conference and
team championships are declared in women's
volleyball, men's and women's basketball and
golf. The college belongs to the National Junior
College Athletic Association and is a member of
Region IX. EWC is also a member of the National
Intercollegiate Rodeo Association - Central
Rocky Mountain Region. The intercollegiate
athletic program for men consists of basketball,
golf, and rodeo. The intercollegiate athletic
program for women consists of volleyball,
basketball, golf, and rodeo. Activity grants are
available in all of these sports.
INTERCOLLEGIATE HORSE SHOWING CLUB:
This
club is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse
Showing Association (IHSA). We welcome any
EWC student to join our club. Members who
wish to compete at an approved IHSA show
must be a full-time undergraduate student and
must be in good academic standing at the time of
the competition. The main activity of the club
is to allow team members to compete at IHSA
