Coach Petsch has completed his 38th year at the helm of Eastern Wyoming College Volleyball. Petsch has compiled an impressive 1063-654 record, an average of 28 wins per season. Coach Petsch is the winningest active coach in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The NJCAA volleyball coaches association honored Petsch with his induction into the NJCAA Volleyball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998. The EWC Board of Trustees honored Petsch by naming the activities center and gymnasium the Verl E. Petsch, Jr. Activities Center in 2002.
Petsch has coached in seven national tournaments, sixteen regional championship matches and has won thirteen Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference titles. He was voted American Volleyball Coaches Association West Regional Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1996, NJCAA Region IX Coach of the Year in 1977, 1978, 1986, 1991, 1994 and 1998, and Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 1979, 1980, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1991 and 1993. He's coached 27 Academic All Americans, 64 All Regional, and 77 All Conference athletes. Verl and his wife Bonnie have two sons, Lance of Torrington, and Wayne and his wife Sara and their son, Colton of Moose, WY.
Lance Petsch, Assistant Coach ~ 307.532.83381.866.EASTWYO (1.866.327.8996) ext 8338
Lance has just completed his 11th season as the assistant coach. He also serves as Intramural Coordinator and Activities Director at EWC. He attended Eastern Wyoming College graduating in 1993, majoring in education. He served as a student athletic trainer and assisted with volleyball practice. Transferring to the University of Wyoming he served as a student atheletic trainer from 1993-1998 He played on the University of Wyoming Men’s Club Volleyball Team and assisted with Cowgirl volleyball practice while serving as their team trainer. Lance graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education. He is also a member of the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department.
